Key events in the life of Jesus (1)

There are many important events that happened throughout the life of Jesus. We will explore them in the next 3 blog posts. This is part 1.

We begin by looking at the birth of Jesus (Matthew 1-2, Luke 2). In these pieces of scripture we can find the typical Christmas story we all know surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.

The story of the Son of Man from 2000 years ago is extraordinary and magical. But don't be fooled. The birth of Jesus has been long in the works. The first indication we can see is in Genesis 3:15 , where God spoke of a Saviour

Some time later, Isaiah prophesised a virgin birth, of a son called Emmanuel (God with us).

The first important event of the Son of Man is one of humble nature. Born in a barn, among animals, was the Messiah.

Next, we are looking at the baptism of Jesus as another important event in His life. Why was it important you ask? Because it shows Jesus' first act of public ministry.

John the Baptist offered a baptism of repentance. Although Jesus did not need to do this, He did so. Because He wanted to relate and identify with the sinners He has come to save.

Another reason for why this event was important is because it is one of the first sightings of the Holy Trinity. The Son was baptised. The Father Spoke and The Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove.

Up next, we are exploring the very first miracle of Jesus. This was recorded in John 2:1-11 where Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding. This is the first time He showed His divine power, and the control He possess over the elements and the Earth.

This miracle was empirical and made the disciples believe in Him. This helped to strengthen their faith and prepare for the difficult times ahead.

Lastly in this blog, we will be exploring the famous Sermon on the Mount as shown in Matthew 5:1-7:29.

Have you ever heard these phrases?

-"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth"

-"An eye for an eye"

-"Ask and you will receive"

These all came from the Sermon on the Mount. Also found here are the instructions on how to pray using the Lord Prayer.

Jesus ends by comparing those who truly hear His word and act on it as 'smart builders; that have built their houses on a solid foundation.; when storms come their houses will withstand.'

We will continue to explore more miracles of Jesus in the next publication!
