The one about staying quiet...

One of the first thing that defines a person in someone else's eyes, is how an individual reacts.

How a person reacts, even in situations of stress, is really telling of their character. As a follower of Christ, I learned that there is a certain level of character I need to uphold for the name of Christianity.

Our purpose was always to show God's glory and character in us. (Matthew 5:16) After all, we are made in His own image. (Genesis 1:27)

Looking at 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12;

"Make it your goal to lead a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live and you will not need to depend on others."

In the above verse, we see Paul writing that we should always try our hardest to stay in our own lane, reject pride, and work for our fruit.

The Bible teaches that a believers lifestyle ought to be full of tranquillity and restfulness.

Looking at Thessalonians 3:11-12;

"We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down, and earn the food they eat."

In this very busy and disruptive world we live in, the peace of God can easily be lost if you lose track of it. Our aim should always be to reflect the nature of Christianity, in our acts and behaviour throughout our daily lives.

All Blessings,

Michael

Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 "And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one."
 Thessalonians 3:11-12 "For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living."
